Please don't murder any muggles or mudbloods.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Materials:

- Wood, roughly 14x2 inches. I used a scrap of 3/4 inch board.

Tools:
- Band Saw (A Scroll Saw would work as well)
- Belt Sander
- Rotary Sander

The picture of Voldemort's Wand in two pieces is a template. Download, print and cut it out. It should print to be 13-1/2 inches long. There's some overlap between to two parts, so you'll have to cut the duplicate area off.

Step 2: Planning and Cutting

Lay the template on your wood and trace it.
(NOTE: The template image is a picture of Noble Collection's recreation of the prop. The shaft on the Noble Collection version is straight, but the original prop had a slight bend away from the hook about halfway up.)
(NOTE #2: There is a "sleeve" that covers about a third of the shaft. Make your tracing about a 1/16 to 1/8 inch wider there.)

Once it's traced onto the wood, cut it out on the saw, turn it 90º, and cut the shaft on the other side.

Step 3: Shaping and Sanding

This is the biggest step. Take your time, plan out your work, and only remove a little bit at a time.

Use the Belt Sander for the rough sanding. Once the bulk of the sanding is done, move onto the rotary sander for the small areas and fine details.
(NOTE: Avoid using the belt sander for any of the fine details. Just roughly shape it out to save time sanding with the rotary sander.)

After you're done shaping it, clean it up with sandpaper.

Step 4: Painting

This step is simple enough. Paint a base-coat of an eggshell-white color over the entire wand — something roughly in between white and tan.

For the second layer, blend darker tan up to the edge of the sleeve on the shaft, on the base of the shaft itself, in the crevasses on the end of the "bone" and hook, and in the divots. Honestly, the best thing to do would be to look up reference images to work off of.

After that, all you need it to paint in the dark divots on sleeve.

<p>excellent work. nicely done</p>
