Introduction: Lord of the Rings Online - the Perfect Pie Recipe
In LOTRO, one of your crafting abilities can to be a cook and make food that will give you character buffs (boosting effects). One of this craft-able foods is, the Perfect Pie. It must be perfect if little hobbits made it. They love their food! Using what is says you need in game to make the Perfect Pie, I've made a real life recipe for it.
4 cups of Blackberries
6 tbsp corn starch
3 tbsp heavy cream (in game says a cup, but I think it would be too runny)
2 tbsp lemon juice
2/3 cup regular brown sugar (or 1/3 cup substitute brown sugar)
1 tsp cinnamon (Or more if you like cinnamon, yum!)
Pie crust ( I use Pillsbury's pre-made pie crust so I can use the second for the top.)
Step 1: Wash Them Berries!
Wash up your berries and pick out any debris or bad ones. Don't need anything messing up your perfect pie!
Step 2: The Bottom Crust
Put half your crust into a pie plate. Easy enough right?
Step 3: Blend the Dry Ingredients
Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl and try to break up any big chunks of brown sugar. Much like the ones in my bowl in the picture.
Step 4: Put in the Berries!
Put your clean berries into the prepared pie plate. Then drizzle over the whole thing evenly the cream and lemon juice. Then sprinkle evenly on top the dry stuff.
Put your top crust on and crimp the edges. Cut off any excess dough and use to make little add-ons if you wish. Attach those with a simple egg wash (one egg and small about of water). Make a hole in the middle for steam.
Cook at 375 F (or 190 C) for an hour. It’s done when crust is golden and bubbling in the middle. Mine was done after 40 minutes. If yours still isn't done after an hour, just keep checking every 5 minutes until it is.
Let cool a bit and you can serve it warm or cold. Up to you! Will keep in the fridge for a week, if it lasts that long.
Tip: If you use frozen berries, it helps to sprinkle 3 tablespoons of corn starch in pie crust just before you add the blueberries! That helps to suck up any additional liquid, so the pie won't be runny.
