Introduction: Jell-0 Shark Tank

Are you a shark lover like me? This layered gelatin dessert resembles a shark tank like the ones seen in movies. I made this by accident a couple of years ago. It’s fairly easy to make and fun to eat. Don't be afraid to change it up and make it your own.

What you will need:

3-4 blue Jell-O mix packages (They are usually berry flavored)
3-4 envelopes of Knox brand Unflavored Gelatin (Each .25 oz.)
purple food coloring
Orange extract
1 carrot cut unto the shape of a wood plank
Gummy Sharks
Any gummies that look like fish (optional)
Starburst candies (optional)
1 action figure or toy person
1 large glass jar or vase
A stove and a sauce pan
Spoons and spatulas

Time taken: 1-2 hours

Step 1: Making Jell-O and Assembly

Making the Jell-O:

Making any Jell-O or gelatin dessert is simple. Most Jell-O mix packages come with easy to follow instructions on the back.  Each layer in this dessert is made with less and less blue Jell-O mix and more unflavored gelatin mix. The base for each layer is 1 cup of boiling water and 1 cup of cold water. Be very careful not to burn yourself when using a stove to boil the water.

Before pouring each layer onto one another, allow for each layer to cool in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes. Make sure that every layer is of a semi liquid and solid consistency before pouring in the next.

Dark Blue (1st layer)
Stir the following ingredients:
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 cup of cold water
- 1 package of blue Jell-O mix
- ¼ package of a clear, non-flavored gelatin mix
- 2-4 drops of purple food coloring

Medium Blue (2nd layer)
Stir the following ingredients:
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 cup of cold water
- ½ package of blue Jell-O mix
- ½ package of a clear, non-flavored gelatin mix

Light Blue (3rd layer)
Stir the following ingredients:
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 cup of cold water
- 1/4 package of blue Jell-O mix
- ¾ package of a clear, non-flavored gelatin mix

Semi-Clear Blue (4th layer)
Stir the following ingredients:
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 cup of cold water
- 1 package of a clear, non-flavored gelatin mix
- 1-2 Tsp. of Orange Extract

Adding the Candy Sharks:
You should add your candy sharks 7-10 minutes after you have poured in each layer. The layers should each be between a liquid and solid state.

Note:
I would suggest using a microwave as an alternative to boiling water on a stove. 2-3 minutes in the microwave should be fine.

Step 2: Decorating Your Jell-O

Once all the layers have completely set, make a wooden plank out of a carrot and attach it to the top of your glass. Make the wooden plank by shaving off four sides of a carrot. Lastly, add a little action figure or toy figurine. I used a scaled model figure.

If you wish to add some more decorations, you may do so by purchasing hard or gelatin like candies. Here I used Starburst candies to decorate the rim of the glass. These are easy to shape, but do not use them in the gelatin layers because their colors will bleed.

I hope you all enjoy making this yummy dessert! Good luck and have fun with it!
