Introduction: M14 (+ Internal Pics)

Picture of M14 (+ Internal Pics)

Hey guys. Yes, in less than a day I: 1) took apart my MP5SD, 2) built a prototype of a M14, and 3) finished it. It really wasn't that hard, and since Blue Mullet asked me to make one, I though I would oblige him.

Again, this is my K'NEX M14. It is somewhat loosely based upon my M21 V.1 that I posted on Nov 28, 2012. It is highly accurate, is fantastically comfortable, has great sights, and achieves great range (40 ft.). It is fun to shoot, although it is kinda hard to pull the pin back. I would say that the biggest disadvantage is the fact that it is not very accurate. If you were to shoot this at a target 30 ft. away, there is some probability that you would miss it.

Some of the features of this gun include:
A nice M14 sight set
Internal magazine pusher
Comfortable trigger and trigger guard
Very comfortable stock and body
44 in. body (almost)

I am overall happy with this gun, and I am excited to hear what you guys will have to say about it.

Step 1: M21

Picture of M21

I know what you are thinking. "What, all he did was slap on a scope and called it a M21!?1!?" That is kinda true, but then again, all the M21 is is a scoped, internally changed, gas operated, M14. So yes, all I did was slap on a scope and call it a M21, 'cause that is what the original gun designers did.

The M21 is (as I have stated) really just a more "accuratized" M14. The original is 44 in. long, and is featured in not a few video games. It is probably my favorite SR of all times, and I think that it is one of the best out there. This gun has all of the same features as my M14 (XD, see intro), except for the fact that I gave it a brand new scope. The scope really does not help with accuracy, but what does that matter.

And again, any comments from you are appreciated.

Step 2: Internals

Picture of Internals

Sorry for the blurry pics, but they were taken hastily with my sisters smart phone. These are just some pics of the internals/mech that you guys requested. If you want any help, just drop me a note.

knexmaster9 (author)2015-09-22

MonkeyKnexer15 (author)2015-08-26

MonkeyKnexer15 (author)2015-08-26

Dr MonkeyMan (author)2014-07-31

It looks a bitlike Zombiekiller-93's M14.

LOL, that is because his is a copy of mine.

DjJosh98 (author)2013-05-23

Good job!!! You got it just right. Will there be instructions because I would love to build this awesome gun:)

Zombiekiller-93 (author)DjJosh982014-05-01

If you need instructions for the M14, I have made full instructions for it

Thanks! Well, not a full 'ible, but there will internal photos.

Kona-chan (author)2013-11-15

can i replace the broken Y's in the mag??

Zombiekiller-93 (author)2013-07-25

At some point im going try and build this because of internal pictures :)

Please do. =D

I have built it, I will upload a picture ASAP

Would you mind writing a review on it?

I can make instructable/review at some point and I will give you credit also I have built you're KAP-40, I have uploaded a picture of it

Sounds good, and yes, I saw your picture.

The M14 review has been uploaded

Good, I'll go and check it out!

Kona-chan (author)2013-08-29

oewh, i'm intressed c:

PotatoCoffee (author)2013-05-24

Very good. Especially around the stock and mag area, Great job! 5*

Thanks bro. I am glad you like it. Are you still K'NEXing?

Nah, I've kinda lost it with knex :/

JonnyBGood (author)PotatoCoffee2013-06-06

Is that his glock?

Yep, in all dark pieces. I smoothed the edges too so it looks a little better but it's range is pathetic

PotatoCoffee (author)JonnyBGood2013-07-07

Hmm, I actualy got pretty good range. But it was really just for looks.

JonnyBGood (author)PotatoCoffee2013-07-08

Well that trigger was difficult, but it does look great

PotatoCoffee (author)JonnyBGood2013-07-07

Hmm, I actualy got pretty good range. But it was really just for looks.

Cool. What range does it get??? I always thought it was kinda cool, but I always wondered about the range.

SumRndmGuy (author)2013-05-25

is that it for internals...ive built everything i see and mine doesnt =p

Yes, sadly. That is too bad that it does not work for you...wait, do you really have enough pieces to build this?

just barely...i had to make some substitutions...but i made it and modded it (my knex m1 carbine)...oh and i got mine to shoot (obviously)

I see. Sounds awesome man...are you gonna post it. If you do, let me know.

it should b posted "Knex M1 Carbine"

Does accuracy really matter when most ammo only goes about 15ft? First off, with any gun the power of the projectile being fired dissipates immediately after being fired. So function, not so much as form, is where our focus should be. No gun made of knex I have ever fired has ever had a range of more than 20ft. Not including slingshot based and cannon based weaponry. While your gun is tops in the looks and comfort department, 10/10 by the way, I feel that the barrel should be modified so that it shoots rounds that carry flights which will give them greater distance and accuracy, if not more power as I find that most ammo for knex tends to twist and flip in the air during flight which would cause it to collide with the target along its side rather than its point.

TheDunkis (author)jiansy2013-05-21

Try oodammo, bud. We realize that most ammo is horrible for shooting, as K'nex were never intended to be fired like projectiles. Models of real weapons like this are never made to be that functional. Specialized functionality weapons are made for this purpose. For examples of oodammo weapons, you can look at my page, though there are plenty of weapons made by others.

And as always, great gun, red book. I hope you step up your model skills like I never could and do things like incorporate charging handles and possible shelled ammo into your future guns.

Where would you suggest I start with oodammo? I have seen quite a few oodammo guns on 'ibles, but I have never found one that really appealed to me. Thanks for the complement, TD, although, I admit, that I don't understand why you don't just sub me...?

Start? None of mine appealed? Well, I don't know then, it's easy to make your own. Really, just start making a base gun like you would for something else. Make a handle and trigger+barrel combination you like, then add an oodammo magazine. As for subs, I don't sub to anyone really. I always lurk around ibles, so I don't need an update on when someone posts something.

Wo, wo, wo, slow down there buddy. I did not say none of yours appealed...ok, well that is what I said, but that is not what I mean. I truly do think that all of yours look amazing, but I was saying that the other ones on 'ibles are kinda...plain. Well, I was not really worried about you subbing me, I just asked, that's all.

I wouldn't be bothered if mine didn't appeal, was just curious if you checked them or not. My oodassault 2 was the first oodammo pistol on 'ibles and is pretty simple. Then the oodassault 3 series was made to be more war worthy. Those are just my examples. Most others tend to be plain because the MeZak set the bar high and others just wanted to join in on the fad of oodammo pistols.

didexo (author)TheDunkis2013-05-23

Fad? I haven't seem many posted these days. Were they just an 09-08 thing?

TheDunkis (author)didexo2013-05-26

Pretty much. At the time, "assault pistols" were just dying down. Pretty much oodammo pistols except with different ammos. Then Oodalumps found what would become oodammo to be pretty good. Of course everyone would make single shot weapons to fire oodammo but I wanted something that would repeat. So at roughly the same time, bakenbitz and I were working on our own oodammo pistols. Then I made a new, better oodammo pistol and posted it here. It was quite popular due to its simplicity and lack of competition. Then it took off and quite a few people started making their own oodammo pistols.

didexo (author)TheDunkis2013-05-26

Ah ok

oodammo is mostly used in pistols. Using it in rifles are pointless for war use.

That is very true.

Yea. I usually don't have wars but it is true.
