Introduction: MSMGP Instructions and Review

About: I used to build with K'nex. I have many really good memories of what the K'nex building community on here used to be. Now I don't build and my dog is dead. Killerk's original K'nex gun is the best ever made, …

IMPORTANT: Please tell me what you thoughts are about the background, blurry pictures aside. I Like this one a bit better, as the light seems good. However, I would be interested in you opinion.

When I first saw Lucas the Boss's Magnum Sub Machine Gun Pistol (Long name), I knew I had to build it. Lucas posted some good internal pics, and I really liked the gun, so I am giving you guys instructions and review. After this I will be working on building my own guns, but if someone wants me to review/post there gun, I have quite a bit of time on my hands, and so you probably will get it.

So, lets get to the review! Make sure to favorite, comment, and subscribe!

Step 1: MSMGP Review.

First off, Looks: This is the real reason I love the gun. It looks like a AR, but in pistol/SMG form. It also has a nice fake barrel, which really contributes to the looks. The handle looks great, and so does the 6th and 7th layers. The mag is the right length. I dunno, I can see some cool knex guns, and think they look nice, but this in particular, really stuck out to me. Nice looking mag too. All in all, Lucas hit a home run with the looks. So... go and subscribe to him if you are not already.

Comfort: Frankly, I thought I would hate the handle. Before building this, I thought that handles made up with two parallel yellow connectors would be awful. I found differently. It IS a tad too big, but the comfort is quite good for me, and if you have bigger hands it should be great. One could hold it with one hand, but I prefer two. The natural position for my left hand is the magwell, and there is a blue rod sticking out there, but not too bad.

Trigger: Despite Lucas saying that it was very hard to pull, with two #64's it is fine, provided that you tape the trigger. the pin also blocked very far back. Too far back, in fact, because it was very easy to pull it out, As I wrote the part on looks, I was pulling the pin back, it came out of the gun and slapped me on the hand. Ow. Not having a pin lock is my biggest gripe with the gun.

Range: About the same as Lucas said. With two #64's it shot 40 feet, not too bad. This should be good enough for a indoor war.

Capacity: The mag holds 12 rounds, but I found that the mag pusher will not stay in the mag with more then ten rounds. Still, quite good.

Accuracy: Pretty good, I found that it shoots very high at close range, but that is fine for medium ranges, as you will not have to angle your shot as much to make it hit. Grey connectors being hit out of a mag is not the best for accuracy, but this was good enough to have fun with.

Strength: Impressive! The whole gun is very sturdy, except for the fake barrel, but those are almost always a bit wobbly. Just in using the gun, it is no problem. It will not flop around with normal use, but a drop spells doom for it. As I said, impressive. A very solid weapon.

Sights: The sights were great, and served the gun well, but I thought they looked too high, so I gave it some lower profile sights.

Build Quality: Very good, it seems like Lucas took his time to think through the gun, however, I do find the back of the gun to seem thrown together. Also, the magwell is awesome, as the mag does not need tape to stay in, nor does it have a lock. it just fits right in, so it is easy to remove or insert, but does not fall out when shooting.

Reliability: This is one of the good point on the gun, as it has never jammed, per se, but once or twice there has been an epic fail where the mag would fail or something, making it mess up. No parts got broken off, I just had to reload.

Step 2: Analysis

Shooter? Nope. Deadly war weapon? Nope. Awesome looking? Yeppers. Incredibly fun to shoot? Sure thing.

While I don't really see myself building this again for the shooting quality, it looks really good, is quite comfortable, and does not take that much time or pieces to build. It looks epic, and it can shoot. It is very reliable, so no worries about lots of jams. In short, I love this gun, and it is Corgi approved. Do I really need to say what may happen if you don't build it?

Build it. Now.

Step 6: Mag.

Build it, ok?
