How do I make a line a certain length?
Simple you might say... edit the length in its properties. So, you do that... and now the line doesn't touch where it is supposed to.

There are two solutions I've picked up on. The first continues from the example I just said... after the line has shrunk, select it and drag it off the image. Then drag it by the end and put it back. Drag the point of the line where it was cut of from to the new end... or drag the whole line itself if you need to.

You may notice I said "shrunk". If you want to enlarge it, grab it and move it first... in fact, this may be a better way altogether... try it yourself.
