Sometimes what looks like magic is really just science in a cute disguise, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. Nickel titanium wire has some awesome properties, among them has remarkable shape memory, meaning you can use heat and cold to amaze your friends!

You'll Need. . .
  • Some nickel titanium wire (also sold as orthodontic wire, memory wire, and magic wire - try Amazon or Ebay to find some online)
  • A flame (burner on a stove is suggested)
  • Pliers (hot metal is HOT - be careful)
  • Cold water
  • Hot water

How To
  1. Decide how you'd like to shape your wire
  2. Heat it over the flame until it's glowing red-hot and keep it that hot for a few minutes
  3. Shape the wire how you'd like it
  4. Dunk it quickly into cold water to set the shape
  5. Deform the shape (or shape it into another awesome shape)
  6. Once you've gathered your friends, dunk the wire into hot water and watch your friends amazement as it transforms!
