Instructables
A magician holds up a chain with 2 fingers. He takes a ring out of his pocket, and threads the chain through the ring. He drops it. The audience waits for the clatter as the ring falls to the ground, but it doesn't happen! The ring has magically tied itself to the chain!

Step 1: The Items

What you'll need=

a thin chain
a fairly "heavy" ring. Not something as light as a paper clip.

SORRY ABOUT PICS. MY SIS'S CAMERA SUX.

Step 2: How to hold it.

This trick works by itself. It's only how good the audiences eye is that might catch the trick.
The "spoiler" is how to hold the chain and position the ring.

Hold the chain with your thumb and index finger. Make the rest of your fingers into a fist, like below.

Step 3: The drop

When you pull the ring up the chain, shift your middle finger so that when you drop the ring, it hits the middle finger and spins. It just needs to tap the ring, not as much as what you see here. I just did that since I needed to hold the camera, too.

Step 4: The end!

Once the ring is dropped, it SHOULD spin and tie itself. If it doesn't, here here some suggestions.

1) Use a heavier ring.
2) Use a bigger ring.
3) Use a thinner chain. (Has to be a chain, or something as sturdy as a chain. A string or thread won't work.)

Enjoy!

Step 5: The end!

Enjoy!

Well, at least this destructable has good photography going for it. I just realized I could make descructables all day from the magic books I had when I was ten. Good idea.

Thanks! I've always wondered how to do this!
