How to make a electric motor
Step 1: Step 1: Materials
2 paper clips
1 rubber band
1 d-cell battery
2 feet of 26 gauge magnetic wire
Step 2: Step 2: Paper Clips
Take paper clips and bend them so they are strait. Then bend one curved end upward. Then cut the magnet wire to 2 feet. See picture.
Step 3: Step 3: Wrapping the Coil
Take the 26 gauge magnetic coil and wrap it around the d-cell battery. Leave the two leads, 2 inches long, pointing outward on opposite poles. See picture.
Step 4: Step 4: Sanding the Leads
Take the sandpaper and on one of the leads sand off all of the enamel. On the other lead only sand half of the enamel. Make sure you sand off all the enamel of the desired location. See picture.
Step 5: Step 5: Rubber Bands
Wrap the rubber band around the battery twice. See Picture.
Step 6: Step 6: Connecting the Paper Clips
Slide the non bend up side of the paper clip into the rubber band so that it is touching both the positive and negative side of the battery.
Step 7: Step 7: Putting the Motor Together
Place the coil leads on the paper clips. Place the magnet underneath the coil on top of the battery. see picture
Step 8: Step 8: Final Product
Lightly blow the coil to start the motor and then watch the coil spin
Step 9: Trouble Shooting
All the enamel wasn’t sanded off in desired areas
Battery is dead
