Step 7 "Slipping" the body

Slip is a muddy clay mixture. To make it, just put a bunch of small clay pieces in a bowl and fill it up with water just over the clay. Let it sit for a day or so. Put the slip on the grooved edges of the body and then smush the two halves together!! In medival times, ocarinas were made of wood and shaped like a stone. They were called Pendant ocarinas. We are making a Sweet Potato Ocarina.

You know, when I make pottery the method I use to join two pieces together, is by taking a wet toothbrush and rubbing the surface thats being joined. This will create a layer of slip and scribes so that it fits together snugly..

where can i get a mold shape like a carrot? or can you use the rock?

you make the mold with more clay and let it dry out :)

How do I make the holes on it? I will buy the clay tomorrow!

To make the holes on it you need to get drill bits the same size as the holes. there is a picture on this instructable near the end of what sizes to use and there is also a more defined explanation at Greenverdigo.com
