Introduction: Make a Glowing L.E.D Triforce!
Lets make a awesome flicking L.E.D Triforce from Zelda! Don't forget to check out my video at the end of this instructable!
What you need-
Thick sheet of acrylic- I used a magnetic acrylic picture frame purchased from amazon for about £6
L.E.D Tea lights- I got a pack of 6 for about £5 once again, from amazon
Block of wood for the base- I used a leg from an old stool
Straight block of wood
Rotary tool / File/ Sander
Step 1: Cutting the Triangle
I started with a thick acrylic picture frame with magnetic backing. I scaled and printed out the triforce design to paper and then stuck it over the acrylic. I lined up and clamped a straight wooden block along the outer lines of the triangle. This will help achieve a straight cut. I then cut out the triangle.
Step 2: Marking and Etching
I then re stuck the deign back on to the triangle and used a metal ruler and Stanley knife to mark the inner lines of the triforce. I did this on both sides. I then clamped the ruler to the edge of the lines and used the rotary tool to carve/ etch the outer triangles on both sides and also the edges. Using a rotary tool is kind of like colouring in, keep it gentle and you will get a nice finish.
Step 3: Base
or the based I used the leg from an old stool. I needed to create a space big enough for the circuit and L.E.Ds so I sed a large drill piece to create an opening and then sanded it down with the rotary tool. After that I drilled two 6mm holes on the top of the base for the L.E.Ds.
Step 4: Circuit and L.E.Ds
To light up the triforce I decided to use these electronic flickering tea lamps. Once taken apart you can see the L.E.D and circuit inside. I added an additional L.E.D from one of the other lights and wired it up to the circuit as shown. I then pushed the L.E.Ds through the holes and glued the circuit board in to the opening I created .
Step 5: Finished
I then used hot glue to secure the Triforce to the base and now it's done! Looks awesome!
