For the side pieces, I glued 4 pieces of cardboard together. Alternating the "grain" of the cardboard will increase the strength considerably. For the lower shelf, 4 pieces were used as well. For the top, I used 4 layers. The back is made up of two pieces.

Wait a minnit... Are you saying that you use ELMER'S SCHOOL GLUE?!?! You do realize that stuff is water solub- *Thinks a bit more* Oh, you put finish on it... Right. Just make sure that either: A) You don't make out doors pieces using this glue. B) You make sure to cover all of it with finish. Come to think of it, wet cardboard is useless too. Huzzah for thinking!
