Make Robot voices using free software

 by geocrasher

Step 1: Start with a text to speech program

First, you need to convert text to voice. Sure, you could make your own recordings, but robots don't start with human sounds. They start with computer sounds. So, go to http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php and change the voice to "Mike . . . . . . . US English."

Now type in the words you want your robot to say. For my first one typed "Hello Master Ryan. How may I assist you."

Now click on "SPEAK". If you like the results, click "Back" in your browser, and then select "DOWNLOAD" instead. Save the file with a unique name. I used "hellomasterryan.wav".

Note: You might have to tweak it to get it to sound the way you want. For example, I spelled my name as "rie an" to get it to sound the way I wanted.
