Introduction: Make Shoelaces From Tape!

Are you broke? Are your shoelaces broke too? Here's a quick fix to your dilemma, and one that will last until next payday, in three easy steps!

Step 1: Materials

You'll Need:

Tape - Any kind will do if you have enough. I'm using masking tape. This instructable is made for the unexpected event of a broken shoelace, so don't expect masking tape to last longer than a day or two. Plastic tapes are a little more durable, with duct and electrical tape being the most durable.

Shoes - These are what you'll be lacing up.

Step 2: Making the Laces

Start by twisting the tape in to a thread form. You want the sticky side of the tape to be inside, and the smooth side of the tape outside, so that the adhesive doesn't stick to everything. Don't tear off a long strip because the length will get shorter as you twist the tape. Instead, twist the tape from the roll until it is the desired length.

Congrats! You have one lace. If you only need one, then you're ready for the next step. If you need two, then repeat this step again.

Step 3: Lacing Your Shoes

Now that you have your laces ready to go, you can lace your shoes. Here I will show you the traditional method of lacing.

Start by crossing the bottom two eyelets.

Then criss-cross the two ends through the second set of eyelets coming up though from the inside out. Continue this criss-cross pattern until the last set of holes

Hooray! Your shoes are ready to go!
