Step 2Prep Your Surface
If there's no mechanism for hanging your finished project on the wall, go ahead and install that first.
If you're not using a nice, fresh, white canvas, it's a good idea to either paint it a color that coordinates with your ribbon or cover it with a piece of fabric in a solid color. For example, I reused a canvas from a previous project, so to keep the awful painting from showing through my pretty ribbon, I stretched a piece of white scrap fabric over it and stapled it to the back of the canvas.
