HELP! I just made a HUGE mess trying to paint my shoes with acrylic. Does anybody have any special tips on how to work with acrylic on leather, and most importantly, how to wash it off? Really... I'm panicking.

You have to use a special paint for leather shoes to make them last. Either that, or spend hours upon hours using Q-tips to take off the top layers of what is already there. Try screen printing paint. It's more expensive, but it works. You can get it at a local craft store like ACMoore or online.
As for getting off the acrylic that is already there...just keep scrubbing...don't use anything abrasive though or you will leave scratches indented in the leather. Try using some acetone (like nail polish remover).
If you want custom painted shoes & don't want the hassle of doing them yourself, I am an artist & I do custom handpainted shoes.

I personally use the italias, which are almost identical to the roms. I made the mistake of not applying any waterproof stuff and they started to chip and peel.

Something else you can try. Converse has custom show option with many many color choice options. The suede shoes could get fairly close in design.

i got me a pair of brand new superstar's.. (not superstar ii's) all white and i think i'm going to try this, but how are yours holding up, it's been a month and a half, any wear yet? i noticed a website had adidas skate superstars that had the toe in natural rubber color already, i wish i coulda got those, seems to take a step out of making these.
