Introduction: Make Your Own Ringtones for Free.

Don't you hate having to pay .99, 1.99, and 2.99 for ringtones? Well hopefully after this instrucatable, you'll learn how to make your very own ringtone.

NOTE: I AM NOT LIABLE WITH ANY LEGAL ISSUES, SUCH AS HOW YOU DOWNLOADED THE SONGS, NOR COPYRIGHTED LAWS.

Step 1: Find the Song

First off you need to find a song that have you. I'm sure you can use DRM-free
(DRM is locked music like you buy from iTunes and CD's....You need to have the file unprotected)
(can can always get free music off of myspace or download.com)

What you do is you drag the music file to your desktop for easy use.

Then download a free audio editor called http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Step 2: Drag and Drop

You drag and drop the music file in Audacity after you have finished installing it to your computers. As soon as you do that something like the picture below should happen. Then press play and listen to your song.

Step 3: Call Your Phone

Call your phone, and time how long your ringtone is. That will give you an idea on how many seconds you can on your ringtone.

As soon as you figure it out, use your mouse, and click on the spot of the audio wave you want to start your ringtone, and drag your mouse to the end of where your ringtone.

(remeber it can only be about 25 seconds.)

then press the trim outside sector.

and then you will only see the part of the song you want the ringtone.

Step 4: Exporting As WAV

Then you press the button you see below in the picture called "Time shift tool"

The you drag your audio file all the way to 0.

as soon as you do that, go to file and export the file .wav.

Then depending on the phone you have, .wav works, and if not convert it to an .mp3 file. my favorite converter is www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.

Then get it to your phone, and apply as rigntone.
