Step 2: Assemble the Paper Part

You will use these so that you can make a perfect front part of the helmet. Print them on your cardstock, cut them out, and glue and tape them together using Elmer's glue, and masking tape.

After you have assembled the paper model, cover up any holes on the helmet using masking tape, and cardstock, and then attach the paper model to the front of the helmet, using masking tape, and adjust it until you feel satisfied with its position. You can attach the ears if you want, but I was going to attach the ears after I put enough fiberglass resin on it.

i realize no one has gotten on here in a good while but i'm having trouble downloading the PDF for the ears. all the others worked fine though. it seems that i don't necessarily need it though. can someone confirm this please. thank you.

i think it matters what browser you use, on Firefox it wasnt working for me either, but on Google Chrome it cam out fine

Very great instructable! Could you help me out with the paper-folding part? I cant figure out how to fold the side parts that connect the top and bottom visor. Thanks! -xD

ok you don't attach the lower vizor to the mouth/chin area instead make sure that the bottom of the visor is connected with the side pieces on the appropriately sized end, this tricky. attach the visor to the chin with masking tape and you should be good! I know I didn't do well at explaining it but Ill post some pics within the week

Just a question. About how tall is your visor, the actual plastic one? Mine is two inches, and the visor seems to be very loose in the helmet. Am I supposed to built it up with bondo?

Oh and also when i add the lower visor to the mouth it is very wide. Is it supposed to be like this?

Well all I can say is look at the pictures. Unless you have a pic to show me, but I don't quite know what you are talking about.

oh nevermind as paper it looked kind of wide but when i held it up to the helmet it was perfect oh and a common mistake people make is using regular paper because its wobbly and hard to keep in place, today i bought cardstock and im starting over and its metallic so bonus.

can you put up a video or a good picture of the sides of the helmet? i need to know how to fold the piece that connects to all everything (the wo on the outside)

What size paper did you use to make that part.

A4. It is 8.5 x 11, the standard paper size in the US.

I tried that but it came out small maybe I did it wrong?

Check the print settings on the pdf files when you print them. There should be an option to change the print size or margins.

when and how do you use card board? im almost done with the initial taping together but im afraid of it falling apart... how much did all the items cost together? please help man... i dont want the paper to come apart... how do you keep the paper hard so it dosent fall apart? im getting really stressed out... in the above pictures the first 2 look like the step im at... yet the other 2 look like you used stronger paper??? what did you do?

A tissue box turned on its side works well too. If you don't have anything to balance the helmet on then don't apply fiberglass jelly or bondo over the entire helmet at once. Do an area, let it dry, and then do another area. That way if you need to put the helmet on the table so that the face mask is facing upwards you don't get fiberglass jelly or bondo on your work surface.

Ok first of all, I printed the design onto cardstock. Secondly, I balanced the helmet on top of this pole that was just laying in my garage while I put bondo on it. (The bondo is what makes it hard)
