Have you ever felt like your bedroom was missing something? Do you live in an apartment and can't paint the walls? Try a headboard!!

Step 1: Materials

This is my first instructable, so be kind and help me out if you see any glaring mistakes!!

You will only need a few materials for this project:

Wood
Staple gun / Staples (3/8" long)
Hammer
Screwdriver
Screws
Nails
Batting
Fabric

I found a piece of 1/2 inch USB board at Home Depot in the "scrap area" (marked 75% off) and had them cut it to 5' x 2' for my queen size bed. Also in the scrap area I found the least warped piece of 1" x 3" pine board and had them cut me two 2.5" sections for the legs.

I got a piece of batting and fabric that was 54" wide and 6 feet long.

Cost:
Fabric / batting- $23
Wood- $7
Nails, screws, staples- use what you have lying around

Step 2: Add the Padding

Fold the batting length wise and place the wood over it. Try to center it as best you can.

Step 3: STAPLE!!

Staple the edges so that they don't have a 'bumpy' appearance when you're done.

Step 4: Drape and Center Fabric

I loosely draped fabric over the batting and centered it so that it would look nice when its done.

Once I was happy with the way it looked I tacked it into place with a few staples by lifting it up and stapling the back.

Step 5: Trimming and Stapling Some More

After I tacked it down, I cut away the excess and stapled down the sides and top

Step 6: Smooth Out the Wrinkles

Just smooth out the wrinkles, and add more staples until all the edges are no longer bumpy looking.

Step 7: Add the Legs

I put the screws into the legs Using some trial and error, I managed to get the screws to line up with the brackets on the bed frame.

I had to make the legs on a crazy angle so that they wouldn't be overlapping the sides and visible, due to the positioning of the brackets on the bed frame.
