Step 7: 10 ohm resistor & 0.047 capacitor

6-Join the 5th pin of IC with one side of 10 ohm resistor, the other side of the resistor should be joined with the one pin of 0.047 capacitor. The second pin of the capacitor should be joined with the GND pin (4th pin of IC).

<p>I know this is a late reply but I just read your question and thought that others might have the same question. How to know a,b,c terminal of the potentiometer?
<p>grab a multi meter and test resistance between each terminal. The two outside leads should be A and C respectively and should have the full rated resistance of the potentiometer between the two. the one in the middle B should change in value of resistance when measured in comparison to terminal A. basically your measured resistance should move proportianally when you turn the knob. hope this helps</p>

this is a much different level of power needed! Thats gonna require more parts too, im no expert so i couldnt tell you specifically, but it would include the need for a fuse
I used 2 LM386 chips and did mine on a pcb. At first the sound was soft and easily distorted. I then went to check out the data sheet for LM386 and realized this chip could take 18v max. So I dug around my box of old power bricks and settled for a 14v 3A one and I must say it sounds a million times better!!

Haha what i did here is exactly the same as the instructions mentioned above. The only thing i did different was that i did mine on a PCB and added a few extra components which were then 2 connectors for the speakers, a female stereo 3.5mm audio jack and another connector for power. Since the Lm386 is a mono amp, i used 2 for stereo. I just did the same circuit twice on one PCB and shared the power between the two. The audio input for both circuits is combined into one female stereo 3.5mm audio jack for easy usage. I also bridged alot of connections using the snippings from the components (i try not to use wires) which makes for a nicer looking finished product. Thats pretty much it. Happy building!!

Unfortunately this is a mono amp, stereo would require two LM386's
<p>That is actually an advantage for when you're building high fidelity speakers; it is much easier to avoid interference if you amplify each speaker separately.</p>
How could you add a led and switch and maby a USB for an iPod?

<p>Hi, I made a simple 3 transistor amplifier and removed 2 resistors wich was causing alot of noise. Removing those 2 made the sound very clear out of the 8ohm 7w speaker. The problem I'm having is that the speaker isn't very loud. Transistors I'm using: BC337, BC547 and BC327. Anyone know how to make the sound louder?</p>

<p>I would suggest using a 5v regulator. Make sure your polarity (+/-) is correct.</p><p>You may also want to replace your speakers as they are built for 12v-14v and this amplifier is 5v. If you follow the first two steps then you shouldn't damage anything however, I'm not responsible for any damage</p>
