Hi!
In this Instructable, i'll be showing you step by step how to make this Venusaur themed planter pot for your flowers. This is a small project so it won't take too long to produce.
So, without further ado, lets begin!!!

Step 1: Materials

The materials are primarilly things around the home, so this project will be very cost efficient.

Plastic Cup
White Polymer Clay
MDF Glue
Masking Tape
Flour
Water
Acrylic Paints

Black Marker
Paint Brushes
Lead Pencil
Scissors
Ice Cream Bucket
Hot Glue Gun
Oven

Step 2: Getting Prepared

What you should do, is a bit of research. Grab some pictures, resources and start to visualize the final product. I've drawn a little sketch of the model to see what it might look like.

Step 3: Starting to Shape the Model

Ok, the first thing to do is to grab the plastic cup, and start measuring it to work out the dimensions of the model, as this cup is going to go inside the model. Once the measurements are taken, grab about 3-4 sheets of newspaper and scrunch it all into a rough body shape. Once the shape is good, secure it up with a bit of masking tape. Repeat this exact process for the legs and tail.

Step 4: Making the Head

The head is a little trickier than the rest of the body. The head itself is triangular shaped, so aim for a rounded triangle that should be a tiny bit smaller in width compared to the body.
Once the head is a nice shape, secure it with masking tape. Now for the ears, it takes practice to get them nice, but a good way to get the pointy shape is to fold up half a sheet of newspaper into a nice thin strip. Then fold it around to make a triagular pyramid shape.
Once this is done, secure it with masking tape and make a second one. Finally, place the ears on the head respectively and stick them down with masking tape. Use a fair bit of tape to help "blend" the shapes into the head.

Step 5: Paper Mache Time

Yay, now the messy part!

Make sure your workspace is covered up.

The glue i'm using at this stage is a flour and water mixture, this glue works well to stick everything down.

For the paper mache, begin to tear strips of newspaper to form many, many sheets of newspaper. With the glue in the ice cream, collect all the parts of the model and begin by dunking the strips into the glue and placing them all around the body parts. Notes to take are to try as hard to make it a smooth as possible, also don't have the strips loaded with glue, squeeze out as much glue from the strips as possible to make it dry faster.

Aim for 3-4 layers of newspaper for each part for the most strength possible. Once all parts are completed in layering, leave them out to dry in the sun.

Step 6: Assembly: Part 1

Alright, now that we have waited for these pieces to dry, it's time for building it!
Firstly, place all your pieces to where they should go, then take note of these positions. For the legs, grab the marker and draw an outline of where you are going to cut off to help it fit onto the body. Using a hobby knife, carefully cut this out and pull the excess off. Then pull out as much of the newspaper inside the leg as posssible. Repeat this process for all of the legs.
Once complete, place the legs accordingly to their positions, then tape the down securely so that they dont move and the model is level with the ground.
The tail can be cut to suit the back of the model, when it fits just right, tape it down and blend it into the body with the tape.

Step 7: Fitting the Cup Into the Body

The cup is the pot in which we will plant the flowers in. This cup goes into the body of the model. In order to do this, firstly mark the top and bottom and top with the cups dimensions. Then use the hobby knives to cut along these markings. The hard part about this is to hollow enough newspaper out to fit the cup in. Use any tools possible to make this easier, once this is done, squeeze the cup into the hole made and hot glue it firmly in place.

Step 8: Assembly: Part 2

It's time for the head, now to assemble the head, we dont need to cut it out to stick it to place. No, we just have to hold in its place and stick it firmly to the front of the body. This may take a few attempts, put it pays off to get it right.
All the parts may seem a bit out of shape, but in the next step, we will smooth the model right out to make it look like more of a pokemon.

Step 9: Smoothing the Model

The smoothing of the model is actually quite simple. Just fold up some newspaper into flat strips and cover these strips over the places where there are significant gaps in the model. Then secure these strips with masking tape. This will give a nice smooth appeal to the model.

Step 10: Securing Everything

Now that we have completed assembling the model itself, we can now perform another layer of paper mache. This time, the glue i am using is a combo of MDF glue and water. I chose MDF glue so it hardens really well and makes everything as solid as a rock. Only do one layer for this stage, but use the remaining glue to paint it all over the body to turn it solid after it dries. Let it dry up overnight.

Step 11: Creating the Canvas Layer

After the glue layer has dried, grab some A4 paper and create lots of strips, then apply these all over the model with the same glue from the previous step. This layer will be completely white so that it will be easier to paint over. Dry this layer overnight, and then we will get painting!

Step 12: Painting

This part is quite simple, first create about two layers of a bluish-green base coat. Then paint the eyes with red and white, they are semi-circular in shape so they are quite easy to make.Also paint the insides of the ears with a pinkish tone. Then, using the marker, draw the mouth, nostrils and bumps on the knees.

Step 13: Making the Claws

Using some type of white polymer clay, create 12 claws and position them well onto the feet. Then take them and place them into the oven until they become rock solid. Finally hot glue them all onto the feet so that they all look correct.

Step 14: Adding the Leaves

Using the green cardboard, draw a leaf that will fit from the rim of the cup to the eyes of the venusaur, then cut out 6 cards and hold them all in a pile. Then cut them all out at the same time to create the same look. Draw a stem running through them all with the marker and finally hot glue them all around them rim, making sure that one leaf goes over the head.

Step 15: Finishing Up

Finally, use a sharp implement to puncture holes in the cup for drainage when watering the flowers.

Step 16: Congrats

Now all you have to do is to fill the cup with dirt, place a few pretty flowers into it and congradulations!! You have made your own personal pokemon that grows your own flowers!
