I have always wanted one of those Lighted LED Frisbees that people have at the beach. They fly along like a laser and are so much fun to play with at night ! So I figured out how to take a regular frisbee and make it light up for next to nothing! Actually cost me about $ 1.00 (one) dollar and tax.
Step 1: Get a frisbee
Any frisbee will do. I just happened to have this one laying around.
Step 2: Get a wand
I saw these little LED lighted wands at the local Dollar Store. My brain said buy several for future LED projects. They only cost one dollar and about eight cents tax.
Step 3: Take the wand apart
Be careful! The wires are so fine, like a hair!
Step 4: Drill some holes
Drill evenly spaced holes in the rim of the frisbee. Make them just so the LED's can be pushed in tightly. Make sure the LEDs stick outside the rim all the way. You can hot glue gun them in if you prefer. Duct tape or glue the wand handle to the center of the underside of the frisbee. Make sure the switch faces up.
You can also just use three button batteries attached to the LEDs. But you will lose the ability to choose modes and turn it on or off completely. (total dc voltage is 4.5 vdc) There are no resistors or any other components in the wand. Simple.
Step 5: Test the lights
This wand came with three settings, fast pulsing, slow pulsing, and every other LED alternating. Cool! It is awesome to throw outside at night ! Have fun, be safe! Enjoy life, its too short!
