Make an awesome Harry Potter wand from a sheet of paper and glue gun glue
Now that Harry Potter fever is upon us once more, I thought you would like to have a go at making some really nice Harry Potter Wands. This is such a simple but effective instructable. With a sheet of paper, some glue and a bit of paint, and about 40 minutes to spare this instructable will show you how you can make a Harry Potter type wand that would not look out of place in the film itself. I designed it and I have already made a load for my kids, even my girlfriend and her 18 year old daughter and her boyfriend wanted one each! For the frist few stages I have drawn pictures of what you have to do and then for the painting part I have taken photos to show you exactly what to do. It's very simple but the effect is fantastic. For more projects like this visit dadcando where there is more Harry Potter type wizarding projects and a load of other craft printables and templates.

If you like this but want more of a challenge which not try it with added magic in the instructable A really magic Harry Potter wand for Lumos and Reveal Your Secrets charms, you get to make a wand with a UV LED at the tip that can reveal secret and otherwise invisible writing. (But I'd try this one first to get the idea).

can u do this without the glue gun? if yes then how? please answer....
Jan 23, 2012. 4:00 PMTechnoDrop says:
Fully possible, though u have to be a bit creative = Every poor persons motto XD

Just experimenting a bit as of yet but stuffing the end with ripped tissue rolled into small tufts and then soaking it with glue to let it set (might have to press it a bit into shape though) seems to do the trick.

Of course you don't really end up with that smooth and nice rounded shape but it works.

naice..... :D shud luk gud. and what about the rolling part. mine gets all thick and stuff.. any way to deal wid dat??
Feb 1, 2012. 12:10 AMTechnoDrop says:
Thick in what way? Because it could just be you're not rolling it tight enough?

Finally finished making my first wand! Though I did it a bit differently, because I don't have a glue gun OR double adhevise tape, OR spray paint. I didn't have most things actually =/

But hey! A little fantasy and an odd use of tiolet paper and I got it done anyways.

I just need to find out how I can get rid of those nasty edges from where the paper (the rolling part) overlaps i mean. . .it's gonna take an awful lot of paint coatings. Is there a faster way?

if you want a "Lumous" tip in the dark you can add a bit of glow in the dark paint or nail polish to the tip and when you wish to show it off turn out the lights and hold your hand over the glowing tip then say Lumous and reveal the glowing tip! Then to turn it out say Nox and cover it again with your hand............ little kids won't notice and will be amazed at you magic ability!!!

for anyone short of acrylic paint you can mix PVA (elemers) glue with ink of color choice and paint it on in a couple coats........it leaves a glossy-ish finish but im not sure if it will distress very well because the glue is the wash off kind but the ink is permanent so i dont know what it would do with the wash. it also dries very quickly if you use black it'll go on purple and dry black its an easy alternative to paint is you have none

I really like this, and I made a few. I took them to my school, and people wanted to know how I did it. I go to an alternative learning school, so I actually taught a class on it! one of the teachers made one, but glued on brown paper towels, which looked like real wood

top two are your style, bottom two are with paper towels
