Louder volume on Android Asus Transformer

Our great Asus Eeepad Transforme is proberly one of the best tablets right now  and it work perfect. There is only one small problem. The internal speakersound is not the best. The problem is, that the small speakers is placed in a the wrong way, turning against the screen and without enough  free space, so all the sound is getting strangle  !

My instruction show how you place the speaker in a more correct way and  how to make speaker grill with real holes, for a louder sound

Please notice

1. Open case:  the Transformer has two external screws.  The screws hold the Transformer’s front bezel in place–not the back cover. Once you remove the bezel, there are several more screws holding the back cover in place. Opening the Transformer’s case is not difficult.
2. Standard screws: Asus did not use any tamper-resistant screws on the Transformer. The unit two external screws have Torx T5 heads and all the external screws have Phillips #000 heads.
3. Battery can be replaced (but not easily): The 3300 mAh, 24Wh Li-Polymer battery can be replaced, and you don’t need to remove the motherboard to do so. You will however, need to disconnect several cables, remove a few pieces of tape, and pry the battery loose from the internal frame. Asus could have made the process more complicated, but not much.

Step 1: Speaker grill

Locate the area where the back of the speaker is placed. Clean the area where you shall drill. It shall be flat and clean

Good idea but looks a bit technical, i wouldn't want to break something, these tablets are fragile!

I think spending a few bucks on a better speaker system would go a long way to providing better sound and would also save you the time, effort and peace of mind of disqualifying your warranty.

I have a quick question, after getting the screws out, how did you remove the back panel? I'm having some difficulty getting it removed.

NICE! That is the only thing I don't like about my transformer. I am thinking about doing this mod myself. I have one question tho. Would it make it louder with out drilling the holes but just turn the speaker around?

Hi WakeUpWolfga and others DIY folks out there.
I had to say no - you need holes, but as you see can no one will even notice the mod. If you dont like my version you can make you own grilldesign. Second, the tablet will be outdated very fast (six month) so the secondhand price will be very low, with and without the mod, so I can not see any reason not to enjoy better and louder sound right now.

I know it will be outdated really soon but I just don't know if I want to drill holes into the case I just got my tablet about 3 weeks ago but I am all for opening it.

This is super cool! I wonder if it would work to add a USB hub to the dock and put a USB audio "card" + speakers in there. For some reason, I'd be more likely to star hacking my dock over tablet.

I love my Transformer and this would make it perfect! But I'm not sure I want to try opening it up? I need to think about that.
