InstaMorph is a special crafting thermoplastic designed to heat up so that it can be manipulated like modeling clay. Once it cools, it hardens into place. Later, it can be reheated to be manipulated again.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to make a Comedian's Badge necklace or trinket charm from The Watchmen.

Thanks to Sky Broyles for this tutorial!

Step 1: You Will Need..

For this project, you are going to need:

Step 2: Heat It Up!

There are a few different methods for heating up your InstaMorph.

You can use our tutorial for a digital induction warmer here.

We also created a tutorial for using a heat gun here.

Additionally, InstaMorph has alternative methods and other suggestions for more advanced projects here.

Step 3: Make a Disc!

We added yellow thermoplastic pellets to our InstaMorph to get a nice classic smiley face yellow going on.

Then, we rolled the pellets into a ball.

We had to reheat a little, but that's OK. You may or may not have to, depending on how the InstaMorph tries to cool.

Then, we flattened the ball into a disc. Like the beginning of a smiley face, see?

Step 4: Decorate It!

Next, we decorated with the design of the Comedian's Bade from The Watchmen.

Sky is a huge fan.

We used red thermoplastic pellets and black permanent marker.

Step 5: Drill It!

Next, take a drill with a 1/8" drill bit and drill a hole.

We went with a hole where the blood splatter starts on the Comedian's Badge.

Step 6: Thread It!

Next, thread your choice of material and length of material through the hole.

We went with coated wire, just enough to make a zipper charm.

We soldered the wire together and heated shrink tape of the solder joint, but you could use string, a necklace chain, or anything.

Have fun!
