I've seen many people trying to emulate the look and feel of a mac. I had to use dozens of different tutorials for more accuracy, and that took a few months (it would have taken less than a week). So here's my first Instructable; be easy on me!! if you always wanted a mac for its looks, than this is the tutorial for you.

Can't you just use safari instead of getting a skin for fire fox?
J Man!!! in reply to scott!Oct 22, 2009. 4:38 PM
The new Safari looks nothing like the older version. It looks more windows-based
electrick in reply to scott!Aug 29, 2009. 11:27 AM
Why on Earth would you want to do that?
scott! in reply to electrickAug 30, 2009. 5:26 AM
Haha, yeah I don't know, I like fire fox too, but I prefer google chrome most of the time though

If you are so in love with a mac why don't you buy a mac?
instructors in reply to cokecolaNov 30, 2008. 6:48 AM
an average pc cost around 300-1000 dollars, a mac cost from around 1000-2000 dollars.
Arbitror in reply to instructorsMay 17, 2009. 4:19 PM
My PC cost $1850. It has 9GB of RAM, a 1GB video card, 1TB of...

...nevermind...
cantthinkof bettername in reply to ArbitrorAug 6, 2009. 5:09 PM
a mac with those specs would probably be about 10 grand
cokecola in reply to instructorsDec 15, 2008. 8:20 AM
Well if they are that fantastic you better buy one.
xrobevansx in reply to instructorsNov 30, 2008. 8:38 AM

you might want to use styler to change the top bar to make it look like the mac one, I did and it looks much nicer, here's a pic of everything it did for me.

here is my setup.. i was able to cut through all the step by step (and as a bonus improving my computer by eliminating vista) was to download XP Ultimate by Johnny. do not take this as a direct endorsement , or a swing at this Instructable, but this custom xp version eliminates the need for windowblinds.. by having stuff all included. as a bonus it not only mimics a mac in all the visual and functional respects of being xp in macs clothing (look, feel, Dock, animated wallpapers, etc). plus it can look and act like xp, Ubuntu, Windows 7, and Vista (without being a pig on memory). it runs smooth as silkl on my pc and i am running: Penium D 2.80 Gigahertz, onboard Intel Graphics (shared 128 megs), gig of ram (shared with the video), 80 gig drive. and it is perfect.. cant ask for better. maybe johnny ripped this guy off lol :P

now dont take me as knockin your work... this is a GREAT job and inspired me to find a 'no work' version of it for myself... mostly due to time constraints...
photoscott says: Apr 9, 2009. 5:58 PM
I tried this awhile back and the one thing not mentioned in this Instructable is that doing all these things to get the Mac look really hogs your resources and RAM. I suggest doing this on a PC that has plenty of memory and a fast processor. Otherwise your PC WILL run like molasses.
elluart0609 (author) in reply to photoscottApr 30, 2009. 5:11 PM
i agree. haha.
OwinchO says: Jan 31, 2009. 10:05 AM
ok so if i make my coompute look like mac so waht if i dont want it anymore??????? email me at owincho@aol.com
elluart0609 (author) in reply to OwinchOMar 1, 2009. 7:29 PM
Sorry, but i have email issues right now so i'm just gonna reply to this comment. There are actually a few ways to deal with this. One way is to just create a new user account (if you haven't tried this yet) and do everything you want on the new account and backing up the files, so you could always just delete the account. another way (If you already went through this all) is to just either delete all the customization tools from start/control panel/programs/add\remove a program. Otherwise, you could always simply turn off the programs playing around with their settings/options.
