Another thing to think about, you can "tune" it by moving the card either towards or away from the center.

The closer it is, the lower the frequency because the inner part of the tire moves "slower" than the outer part and "thwaps" the card slower.

Near the edge of the tire, it's moving rather quickly and will even begin to buzz and drone.

cool, but all u really have to do is run over a can with ur back tire, make sure its stuck, then drive and that works fine too

as kids, we always used laundry-clips to attach the cards in stead of tape

that's how we did it back in the 80's ;-)

I am a kid and I love doing this but my cards keep falling off! I tried using water bottles. They fall out so I tied them and now my bike looks like crap! I NEED HELP!

cut a slit in the card so the tape can fit inside of it then make figure 8's with the tape so the card is taped to the frame within the card.

you could also use a zip tie

Nice to see an old idea come back, as kids in the early 1960s we used to all do this. Still a fun idea and maybe now a good safety device to warn pedestrians!

Yo! Try using a square piece of plastic cut from one of those thin green flower pots. RrrrrRRRRrrr! Caveat: might do a number on your spokes after a while.
beyondimagination (author) says: Sep 20, 2008. 6:04 PM
The reason that i advise NOT to use plastic is actually because that it can loosen your spokes.

sounds nice, though I'm aiming for something lower pitched
beyondimagination (author) says: Aug 23, 2008. 12:39 PM
Try it with a thin zip tie.

it would be pretty cool to try adding multiple cards and maybe have some them double stacked so theres two cards on some of them
beyondimagination (author) says: Aug 4, 2008. 2:20 PM
you can put as many cards as you want, in different spots, if you stack cards together you will get a weird sound. I put like 8 in different spots and it was really loud.
