Make your own PS/2 hardware keylogger

This instructable is on how to make your own undetectable hardware keylogger.
It is based on http://www.keelog.com/diy.html and from there you can download the software to get the keystrokes.
Warning! I hold no responsability with what you do with this keylogger.

For this project you will need the following:
  • Atmel AT89C2051 microcontroller (or AT89C1051, AT89C4051)
  • AT24C512 serial EEPROM chip (or compatible)
  • 12 MHz crystal
  • 2 x 33p capacitor
  • 10 uF capacitor
  • 10 k resistor
  • small push-button
  • casing
Some expreience in soldering is also required.

very nice but don't most keyboards use USB now?
ellisgl says: Jan 24, 2008. 5:11 PM
It would be better if it were in the keyboard instead of spliced into the ps/2 cable. Of course a lot of keyboards now come USB - but that's easy to convert the USB to PS/2. Also the AT24c512 only captures 512KB of key strokes. That's 512 thousand key strokes. (I don't think the source code can detect that I hit backspace, up down and figure out that I rewrote something....) AT90SC6464C-USB would be better because you could then just write the keystrokes to a very small usb thumb drive.

would all the thins for this project be available at my local radioshack?

Definantly no.
Maybe the: resistor & button, and if you're really lucky, the cap.
Buy it from http://mouser.com

This is a rehashed version of http://www.keelog.com/diy.html that you reference.
Suggestions...
1)Who is this aimed at? The beginner would have no idea how to go about soldering this up, nor how to program a microcontroller;they may not know what a keylogger is even. This is supposed to be an instructable, not an advert for a website.
2)If you are going to merely rehash the keelog website, then get permission from the owner and put all of the detail that is on that site into the instructable-if needs be you can have a "quickstart" guide, then more detail afterwards.
3)Better yet, make one and then document the build. Discuss the issues involved in soldering without board. Could more space be saved by using sufrace mount components, are shorts a problem etc.
4)Most people would find it much easier to program the microcontroller before they snap all the pins off and solder everything together.

I agree. He did not even use his own pictures, wich mean he propose a instructable he did not even try to build. lazy!

Wow! looks hard. Would be great for mor secure computers that can't run progrms in the background without you knowing. Great job!

Dang, looks like quite a bit of work, but nice job!
