Introduction: Make Your Own T-Shirt

This Instructable will show you how to make your own T-shirt from a design of your choosing.  As, well as some mistakes I've learned while trying similar methods.

Step 1: Supplies

Needed Supplies
T-Shirt/Onesie
Storage container
Flashlight
Pen
Fabric/Puffy Paint
Your chosen design printed and sized to fit the shirt
Tape

Step 2: Applying the Design

Start by turning your shirt inside out.  Then place your design where you would like it to appear on the shirt face down.   Secure the design with the tape.  Then gently turn the shirt right side out making sure not to disturb the placement of the design.

Step 3: Tracing Time

Place the storage container inside of your shirt.  This will give you a surface to draw on and a way to illuminate the design from below.

Then using the flashlight inside the storage container trace the design using the pen.

Step 4: Painting Time

Follow the application instructions of your fabric paint.  Mine were

Shake well
Hold tip to surface and squeeze gently
Follow the lines you applied with the pen
I keep the design attached and the storage container inside the shirt in case of bleed through of the paint.

Sharpies are NOT recommended.  My first attempt at this I used a Sharpie but it bled in the first wash.  Though they are permanent markers that must mean until you wash them.  Not sure if running the shirt through the Dryer first would have set the marker or not.  But anyway this process uses Puffy Paint and who doesn't like puffy paint?

Step 5: Just a Little Wait

Let dry flat 4 hours
Fabric can be washed (turn inside out) after 72 hours.

After the paint has dried you now have a one of a kind shirt. (One of a kind because if you are anything like me there are little mistakes)
