Make an avatar

How to make a cool avatar. Using the GIMP.

Step 1 The begnning.

Make sure that you have GIMP. GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.
Download it here: http://www.gimp.org/

Now then, lets get started.

First, Imagine what you're avatar will look like. It should look cool, eye-catching, and flashy. The best avatars are simple, so lets keep it at that. Avatars are generally 100/100 pixels. Click on File>New. set the width and hight to 100 px.

It's probably just that it doesn't support flash 10. For most stuff it works great.

What is an avatar... good question! If you look at your post above, you can see that little picture. It has the outline of a person. This is a 'avatar'. An avatar is just a little picture (generally 100x100) that sort of identify you in a way. You don't need one but they look cool. Teenagers like to make there own avatars to use on Internet forms and such. It shows your artistic style and tells a little bit about you. (MAN, this is hard...) Thanks for the comment!
