Introduction: Makedo Christmas Ornament

About: Makedo is a series of safe cardboard construction tools purposely designed for kids to imagine and build the world they want to see.

Make simple beautiful Christmas ornaments from old gift wrapping. All you need is old gift wrapping paper and Makedo re-pins and re-clips available at mymakedo.com.

This project was designed by Tanaka Satoshi, Makedo’s master maker from Japan.

Step 1: Find

Source old wrapping paper left over from gifts. For this project each ornament requires 2 Makedo re-pins and re-clips.

Step 2: Cut

Cut the paper in to strips. For this project we will be using 9 strips of paper.

Step 3: Punch

Use the point end of the Makedo safe-saw and punch holes at the end of each strip.

Step 4: Connect

Use the Makedo pin and clip to connect the strips of paper at one end.

Step 5: Connect

Fan out the strips so and they are evenly spread out from one another.

Step 6: Build

To give it some shape Pinch the end of the paper strips and open it the spaces between the strips. You may wish to use marbles to place between the space of the paper strips.

Step 7: Connect

Once you are happy with the final shape, use the Makedo safe-saw and punch a hole at the end of the strips. Connect using a Makedo pin and clip to hold it on place.

Step 8: Share

Your Makedo ornament is complete. Use different left over wrapping paper to create other colourful ornaments. Don't be afraid to creat other variations, just be creative! Attach string to hang around the house or on the Christmas tree. Share and upload your creation to mymakedo.com, we would love to see it! :)
