You'll need the vice grips,Dremel with cut-wheel, drill, and sandpaper.

First, get the longest rod, and tighten it into the drill, with part sticking out th end(fig. 2). Pull the trigger, which will spin the rod, and press sandpaper against the rod, making the rod fractions of an inch smaller, and also polishing it. Then take the drill button in one hand, and the Dremel in the other, and turn on the Dremel. Start spinning the drill with te other hand, and press it onto the sprue-like bump on the end of the rod (see fig. 1). Grind this off, and flatten the end by using this technique. On this end, and -only- on this rod( the longest one) hold the top of the cut-off-wheel at about a 45 degree angle to the rod and cut an angle in the rod (see fig. 3). This rammer will only be used for the clay, to form a funnel for the hot gasses/flame. Now, sand this again, to got a decent finish; It doesn't have to be perfect.

Now loosen the rod from the drill, and flip it, so that end will gp into the drill, and the unfinished side can be showing. Repeat the sand paper "torture" to the rod, so it is identical to the other. Now repeat the end-flattening technique, but without the bevel. sand this as well, and put in one groove at the top by spinning the rod, and holding the cut-wheel against it(see fig.4).

Repeat this again, for every rod. For the second rod, put two rings for the second longest, 3 rings for the third longest, etc.

Note: The bevel is for ONLY the longest rod!
