So this is an 'ible on how you animate GIF images in photoshop, dead simple, lots of fun and very easy to do, though a little labour intensive, in comparison to flash, this is frame by frame animation...

Step 1: You'll need...

Step-7cover.gif
A copy of photoshop.
A copy of Imageready (usually comes with PS)
About half an hour to an hour to play with
A little experience in computer graphics

GIMP is a free program much like photoshop.

This is such a helpful educational and informational post. Thanks for the effort.
You could also use as an add-on or support tool the amazing Wegif Animated Picture Software, and you'll have a great results.

Just a suggestion for your artwork to be more effective and remarkable, you could try http://www.wegif.com/browse/

it is but its a pain to make gifs now its part of the video settings WHY photoshop needs video setting i have no idea that's what after effects is for

I'll maybe go in to that sort of thing at some point, it'd be easy using transformations, this was more a general making things move 'ible though.

I have a few pictures of my aunts dogs, and I want to make some GIF's with them and make them look like there moving.

A friend of mine, who is a proffesional photographer gets free copies from meetings, conventions, deals and such. He gave me a copy of PS 5, it really got me interested in this sort of stuff. Sadly, two weeks later, my computer broked. He doesn't wanna give me another one. Then I discovered the GIMP, which although is a bit more user-friendly in a way, still lacks a few features....

Also try paint.net some grad student designed it as what paint should really be and it ended up being an excellent program, similar to the GIMP but with different features...
