Making of the Predator Knife/ Survival Throwing Axe

 by triumphman
I saw the movie Predator with Arnold Schwartzenegger and loved it !  Irecently saw a shape of a knife that reminded me of the predator monsters face, so I just had to make one. Here is how I did it.

Very beatiful axe! Does it hold it's edges despite it's not heat treated?

Very cool

HOLY CRAP! DUDE, you are awesome!

I've made numerous knives and have avoided the problem of destroying the temper by simply taking my time and being patient. A couple of passes with the grinder, cool it, a couple more passes, and so on. It just takes patience. Again, well done!

Thank you! You are too gracious!

OK, way more impressive than I expected! When I read the headline, I thought: "I don't remember the Predator using a particular knife, but it's been awhile since I saw the movie, and maybe he's talking about a knife from the movie but used by one of the commandos..." I was assuming you were just replicating an actual knife from the movie. Great original design!

You might want to put the Blade itself as the instructable lead image. From the main contest page this looks like an instructable for building a photo-realistic predator mask. :/

The blade itself is cool though. Great work

It's not my style, but you're progressing in your steel-working skills mate. Keep up the good work, thre are a lot of knives hidden in those cutting blades!

triumph... you have out done yourself! that thing is sharp looking!
it looks like a rhino. i like it alot, when you tire of it feel free to ship it to me!! haha. keep up the good work. so when are you going to start tempering and heat treating your blades?

Not yet, I have been cutting and cooling the metal so as not to lose the temper. Maybe when it gets cooler outside, I may try the heat treatment on a new project. Thanks for the good comments. I am trying out different sheath designs and prototypes for it. I will probably go with the green plastic that I used on the Tracker Knife. I like the way it keeps its shape around the knife, yet allows me to quickly draw the knife out in a flash! Cheers, Triumphman
