Introduction: Manual Solar Tracker

This is a simple tool to track the sun using shadow. It can be use in any portable solr panel. Just attach this tool to the panel and check the shadow to align with the sun.

Step 1: Prepare the Materials

Prepare the following:
* Cardboard
* Bottle ring
* paper clips
* rubber band
* screws
* bottle cork
* glue

Tools
* cutter or knife
* scissors
* pencil
* ruler
* screw driver

Step 2: Cut the Board

Cut the board as shown in the images.

Step 3: Make the Retractable Guide.

Paste together the parts numbers 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 as shown in the images.

Step 4: Prepare the Retractable Gripper

Twist the two paper clips as shown in the image.
Make a hole on the part numbers 3 and 4 about 10 mm from the end.
Insert the paper clip to the hole.
Combine the part number 3 with part number 5 as shown in the image.
Do the same with part number 4 and 6.
On the other side of each combined part, attach the cork accordingly as shown.

These assemblies will serve as retractable gripper.

Step 5: Prepare the Tracker

Twist the paper clip about 5mm upward twisted. This will serve as a needle for the solar tracker.
Make a hole at the center of a tracker area as shown above.
Insert the paper clip to the hole.
Attach the bottle ring.
Paste this to the previously prepared assembly(retractable guide).

Step 6: Insert the Retractable Gripper

Insert the Retractable gripper to the guide.
Place a rubber band to make the grippers close.

Step 7: Attach the Desired Panel.

Attach any solar panel that fits to the solar tracker.
The length should be between 100 mm to 180 mm.

Step 8: Done.

To trace the sun's position, the shadow of the tracker's needle must be at the center of the tracker.
The fourth image above shows that the sun is aligned with the panel.
In this position, the panel will absober best power at that moment.

This tool is use to get the best position to harness the sun.
