Introduction: Manzanita Wedding Arbor

Picture of Manzanita Wedding Arbor

find some manzanita and chop it down, use thinner branches and weave the together in an arch formation and use twine to tie it together at both ends and the middle. use thick "Y" branches for the legs, and short straight support branches between legs front to back and deck screws to hold supports in place. errect the legs first, then top it with the weaved branches and decorate to your liking and enjoy!!

note: these pictures show it it stages, and in different places.

the 1st stage, (pics with RV) are just front supports and I was just trying to get an idea in my head... nothing really going there

the 2nd stage (pics with both front and back supports and rocks to hold in place) show it as we wanted it. but as weather allowed, we actually had to saw it off flat at the legs so we could move it indoors. it was not easily moved, and we eventaully had to dissassemble it completely in order to get it into the church. but this is basically an almost complete arbor.. without decoration.

the third (and decorated) FINAL stage. shows it in the church, the legs are in buckets filled with rocks, and we placed tree bark around the buckets (tied with twine) to give it a very woodland feel as if there were cut rounds holding it in place.

this project was frustrating and fun and it turned out to be one of the biggest hits at the wedding, without it the wedding would have lacked ia certain accomplished, worked for, and accomplishment that goes with a strong marriage. and the bride and groom got to keep it for their yard to remember their special day.. i recommend this project to anyone wanting something similar. just remember. IT TAKES WORK, AND PERSEVERANCE! BUT ITS WORTH IT.

That looks amazing. Using a real tree gives the arbor a great natural look that you can't get with a manufactured design.

thank you very much. I know exactly what you mean, i couldnt agree more.
