Using just a match, a empty box of matches, and a few other things that can be bought at Wal-Mart,(and Visco fuse, gunpowder and dextrin) you can make an igniter that doesn't need a lighter. This uses a pushing action to start it, but can be modified for a pull to start it.

You could buy bullets and carefully remove the powder, but he put ",(and" which means elsewhere.

Either nitrocellulose, or nitrocullulose and nitroglycerine, along with stabilizers, binders and graphite. There are no commercially loaded black powder cartridges.
Feb 14, 2007. 1:55 PMLarrySDonald says:
Several of the walmarts here in kansas carry both black powder and metal looking stuff normal bullets use (I, too, assume it's some sort of stabilized nitrocellulose, but I could be way off base) , as well as several other compounds intended for muzzle loaders both in pound containers and in carefully measured packets/lumps. They're a little pricier then at your average reloading/gun store or online, but certainly there on the shelf.

If you have 1 match and an empty match box left, why not just strike it on the box instead of doing all this to light the fuse?

May 7, 2007. 12:09 AMpyrocreep says:
Two questions on this. First: how reusable is it? Do the matches burn long enough to start the whole thing on fire or is it something that you could use a good dozen times or more before it starts to go? Second:If your going to be using these to light something that already has a fuse (depending it may be useful) how would all of you attatch them? I would think rather than the fuse that's in it you could rig something up with just a paper clip to hold the fuse inside of it. That way you wouldnt have to attatch fuse to fuse...would could still be done...
Feb 10, 2007. 5:26 PMmutinyishell says:
looks like these are good for windy fourths of july. other than that though, it seems to flimsy to really apply anywhere else. i am, however, interested in how well it works for iron lizard
