I think matches are very fun to play here in the philippines because they are very cheap each box is equivalent to 7 cents.
Dec 23, 2010. 1:57 AMnutsandbolts_64 says:
Around my place it's only piso per matchbox which is equivalent to approximately 2 cents in US currency.
Dec 20, 2010. 10:47 PMa_d777 says:
Agreed, matched are fun to play with!
Here in India, matchboxes are about 1 cent!

May 10, 2010. 6:55 AMHeyJD says:
Can't you use a folded out paper clip instead of a sparkler to hold the rocket?

This is awesome, i made like 20 today, and then i decided to make a cardboard tank to shoot these!

Dec 19, 2009. 3:19 AMbeehard44 says:
cram match heads in the tank and presto! self destruct mechanism! just add fuse..........
Or the rocket!
Feb 21, 2010. 7:16 PMnutsandbolts_64 says:
reading the comments here I got and idea. grab the matches, cut off the heads and put 'em in the ball mill. afterwards, grab the powder, carefully with mask, and pack them, again, carefully into a miniature, fin-stablized, rocket! i just have to carefully make the nozzle... launching it and... *BOOM* maybe I made the nozzle a bit too small *thinking with a charred face*

BOOM!!! HAHAHA YOU WILL ALL PARISH IN FLAMES MUHAHAHAH

Dec 29, 2009. 7:45 PMguido5770 says:
could i make a mini version with matches from a matchbook thats all i have right now
Feb 19, 2010. 9:36 PMdungeon runner says:
Actually, yes. Just take a straightened paper clip (or a regular needle), and lay it on top of the match, going no further than the tip. Wrap some tinfoil around the top, remove the paper clip and hold a lighter to the tip of the match. It should fly just the same.

Sorry if these instructions are unclear, they explain it better here:

This is awesome! Nicely presented, too. I'm currently on a hunt to find some wooden matches. I'll try and post my results when I attempt it :).
Jan 2, 2009. 5:16 PMMonkeyBoy3217 says:
i tried it but it blew a hole in the foil and it was still on the stand
Feb 18, 2010. 2:11 AMdungeon runner says:
You sir, need to improve your foil-wrapping skills ;).
Sep 22, 2009. 2:03 PMpatrick p f says:
wait why use a sparkler if the sparklers flames only go down?
Jan 30, 2010. 9:37 AMChromatica says:
Its a used sparkler, to hold the rocket up.
Apr 16, 2008. 10:37 AMDark1lives says:
Lol on the first video you have a face puppet drawn on your hand. does that help the rockets?
Nov 10, 2009. 12:23 PMpikoparty says:
of course it does, anything involving hands work better if you draw a face puppet. ^.^
Sep 3, 2009. 11:45 AMI am Silas. says:
How does it work?
Sep 18, 2009. 5:43 AMeulaliaaaa! says:
the gas that gets created when the match is lit is stored in the foil. and when enough gas is stored in there, it comes out the back of the foil with tremendous force. Well, enough to make it lift off anyway.
Sep 17, 2009. 3:13 PMjnezzzz says:
lol i put 7 heads and it went 26 feet... need alot of tine foil tho
Sep 16, 2009. 1:57 PMADAMgrant says:
just to let some people know, if it doesn't take off the first time you try, you probably need more tinfoil. the matches i used just blew a hole right thru the tinfoil, causing all the gas to escape
Mar 29, 2009. 7:14 PMstruckbyanarrow says:
hehe my record is like 20 some feet it was awesome and i have video proof i will post soon
Aug 24, 2009. 11:40 PMpaperismyfriend says:
