I made this in GATE (gifted and talented education)in 4th grade, but we used actual cacao beans, to finish up our unit on the Mayans. It was a cold winter afternoon, and it was very nice with a teaspoon of cinnamon instead of cayanne pepper. Our class was jealous that we came back drinking a coffee-like substance. I loved gate, and it's also the reason that in biology 1 (honors probably) I will be dissecting for the 3rd time.

I like this recipe. I'm not as much of a chocolate lover, but I like hot peppers.

That said, if you aren't very tolerant of heat, you might want to smooth out the burn on this one. A little nutmeg, preferably fresh, helps smooth things together.
Nutmeg doesn't get rid of the burn, but it does sorta help ease you into it.

Great recipe! I'm going to try it with espresso and steamed milk tomorrow, see how that turns out :-) Be careful with the cayenne pepper, a pinch really means a pinch! Even a couple of shakes turned out to be a little too spicy me.

Thank you so much. You have given me something to try for Valentine's day, which is also my fiancee's birthday. We both LOVE spicy food, so this should be PERFECT for us. Again THANK YOU! terrific 'ible.

Sorry to be a snob but I'd use espresso for this.

Even espresso made with a cheap machine is better than instant.

In fact if the cheap machine is a hand-operated one like the aeropress it's likely to be better than instant OR cheap 'steam' espresso.

This is definitely next on my "to try" list! Nice 'ible and good luck in the contest!

I did a search when I was thinking about doing my "ible" but didn't see anything, between the time I searched and the time I posted you made this one. We took totally different paths to arrive at the same destination. I like the way your looks with the peppers floating in it, and the cinnamon sounds like a tasty addition

Wow! Talk about warm you up from the inside! I used too much pepper for the wife and kids but was good for me!
