Visto y considerando que mi KISS lathe ha dado resultados satisfactorios, vale la pena dedicar tiempo a hacerle correcciones y mejoras. Algunas necesarias, otras convenientes, otras "ya que estamos".

Seen and considering my KISS lathe has been successful, it is worth taking the time to make it corrections and improvements. Some necessary, some desirable, others "by the way".

Step 1: Protecci�n contra viruta (chip protection)

El motor es muy robusto y se ha bancado perfectamente hasta ahora la entrada de aserrín y viruta, pero no hay que abusar. Podría ocurrir que en medio de un trabajo una partícula de madera haga que el motor deje de funcionar.

Pensé en cubrir las aberturas de la tapa con tela metálica, pero consideré que era muy probable que esta se obstruyera con relativa rapidez, ocasionando así el recalentamiento del motor por falta de enfriamiento. Así que simplemente tomé un trozo de lata proveniente de un aerosol usado, le hice dos agujeritos en un costado y lo aseguré con las tuercas que mantienen las tapas en su lugar.

The engine is very robust and has held up well so far the entry of sawdust and chips, but do not overdo it. It might be that in the midst of a work , a particle of wood makes the engine shutdown.

I thought to cover the openings in the lids with mesh, but it was very likely that this will obstruct relatively quickly, causing engine overheating due to lack of cooling. So I just took a piece of tin from an used spray, I made two holes in its side and secure it with the nuts that hold the covers in place.

Lamentablemente no puedo hacer el video, porque aunque el variador funcionaba bastante bien, no era eficiente para transmitir fuerza, dado que pese a la cera adherente la correa patinaba con frecuencia. Hace unos meses lo reemplac&eacute; por un juego de poleas, que tienen un canal semicircular y entonces proveen un mejor agarre, con 4 velocidades.</p><p>Respecto a los variadores el&eacute;ctricos, tienen el mismo problema que el variador de doble cono: no transmiten potencia, al menos los baratos. </p><p>Convertir MPH a RPM es sencillo, pero hay unos tac&oacute;metros &oacute;pticos baratos que funcionan bien. Unfortunately I can not make the video, because although the drive worked pretty well, it was not efficient to transmit force, as despite the sticky wax the belt often slided. A few months ago I replaced it by a set of pulleys, having a semicircular canal and then provide a better grip, with 4 speeds. <br><br>For electric drives, they have the same problem as the double cone drive: no transmit power. Cheaps, at least. <br><br>Convert MPH to RPM is simple, but there are some cheap optical tachometers that work well. I bought one in <a href="http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Holiday-Sale-Digital-Laser-Photo-Tachometer-Non-Contact-Tach-205/1214884096.html?s=p" rel="nofollow">Aliexpres</a>, it seems to be pretty accurate.</p>

Lastly (after the instructable) I did some grooves in the lower cone, that improved a lot the transmitted force.
