Seen and considering my KISS lathe has been successful, it is worth taking the time to make it corrections and improvements. Some necessary, some desirable, others "by the way".

Step 1: Proteccin contra viruta (chip protection)

IMG_7166.JPG

The engine is very robust and has held up well so far the entry of sawdust and chips, but do not overdo it. It might be that in the midst of a work , a particle of wood makes the engine shutdown.

I thought to cover the openings in the lids with mesh, but it was very likely that this will obstruct relatively quickly, causing engine overheating due to lack of cooling. So I just took a piece of tin from an used spray, I made two holes in its side and secure it with the nuts that hold the covers in place.

Lastly (after the instructable) I did some grooves in the lower cone, that improved a lot the transmitted force.

Excellente Instructable.

Excellent Instructable.
I use these reels too, the ones I buy are for shower doors, or sliding doors.

Thanks for your comment, Bobby. Really I don't use a lot the lathe, only some hours weekly. Turning is a very pleasant task, but I must do many other things.

Gracias! (Thanks! Really it improved markedly. I do anymore not break the glasses of the gallery with flying pieces of wood).

Yes, Phil. The lathe won a lot of usefulness with these improvements. Thanks for comment.

It is always good when you can refine a tool until it is just the way you want it.
