Meringue and Strawberry-Lemon Hot Sauce Custard

Meringue and Strawberry-Lemon Hot Sauce Custard
This is a meringue star on top of a strawberry-lemon hot sauce custard I made. It was my first time, but it turned out really delicious. You should definitely try making it.

Step 1

First start off by making the meringue. I used this website's technique: http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-meringue-stars-kis-115708 . The ingredients in mine were:
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/4 cup of confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of white vinegar
The equipment that you will need is:
  • stand mixer
  • bowl (I used glass)
  • whisk
  • spatula
  • piping bag (and tip)
  • sheet ray
  • parchment paper
  • sauce pan
First bring some water in the sauce pan to a boil. Preheat oven to 200 F. Separate the the egg white from the egg (save the egg yolk). mix in the white vinegar. put the bowl with the mixture in the saucepan. Whisk in the sugar until it is completely melted. Then remove the bowl from the heat. Use the electric mixer to whisk the the meringue. Start on slow and progressively make it faster as it starts to thicken. When the meringue can hold it point it's ready. Put it in the piping bag and pipe medium sized stars onto the parchment paper on the tray. Place in oven and cook for 1-2 hours or until firm (the tips will be slightly browned).

I'm pretty much a scrapper when it comes to my projects. I like to use what ever I have lying around the house.
