Microwave Potato Crisps

After seeing the microwave potato chip instructable, I tried making something similar using potato flakes. It came out pretty well. It tastes better than it looks, honest.

Step 1: Materials

• Instant potato flakes
• Olive oil
• Salt
• Water
• Vinegar (optional)
• A microwave-safe plate (I used a 9-inch silicone cake pan)

I have made microwave potato chips several times. To keep them from coming out so oily, and still keep them from sticking to the plate, I use one of these brilliant gadgets.

This is what I've been looking for! To make them thinner I rolled out the mix with a rolling pin (you can use a glass) between two sheets of parchment paper. I also scored the flattened mix before putting it into the microwave to make the crisps individual. Then you can just put them into the microwave right on the parchment paper.

how thick should it be? mine is about 1.5 cm and yours looks like its half a centimeter

this sounds really good.... i seen it and was like "i dont know" but read the intructable and wow... i have to try this... i love instant potatoes and i dont know anyone else that does

Good idea. You can do nearly the same thing with shredded cheese by throwing a handful of it into a frying pan with oil, and turning the heat on to medium and melting till brown.
