I wanted to do this because sometimes I get hungry and I want to eat. I figured that potatoes would be something good for me that I could cook kinda fast in the microwave.

Step 1: 1

Get some potatoes and olive oil.

Step 2: 2

Wash and dry potato.

Step 3: 3

Poke holes all over with a fork to vent steam (try to make it even).

Step 4: 4

Get the olive oil and put a little in a bowl.

Step 5: 5

Dip two or three fingers in the oil and rub the oil all over the potato (but not too much)

Step 6: 6

Wrap the potato in a paper towel, place on a plate and put it into the microwave.

Step 7: 7

When using a 1200 Watt microwave, set the timer to 3:00 for a very small potato; set it to 4:30 for a medium-sized potato; and set it to 6:00 for a large potato. Huge potatoes require 7 to 8 minutes.

Step 8: 8

The potato should be soft enough for eating and while it is still slightly firm deep inside when it is done.

Step 9: 9

Let the potato stand for five minutes. This allows the inside of the potato to finish cooking with the hot steam that is trapped inside; this helps it to become fluffy inside without over-drying the outer portion.

Step 10: 10

After it comes out of the microwave you can wrap it in aluminum foil it will make it cook the inside a little faster than if you just let it sit in the paper towel

Step 11: 11

After about five minutes it will be finished and ready to eat.

Step 12: 12

Now you can put anything on it that you would like and eat it!
