Introduction: MinPen Mod!

Picture of MinPen Mod!

Well, this kid named Danny that is in one of my honors classes has like thousands of these generic transparent pens that he transforms into blow dart guns. I came up with this while sitting in Honors Physical Science. Not really amazing, kind of silly, (really silly), but i guess if your this crunched for space it will help :)

Step 1: Materials

Okay first off, you will need a nice sharp knife, or a hacksaw, or some pliers ( Whatever you prefer!) And a regular generic pen.

Step 2: Step 1-Remove Writing End of Pen

Picture of Step 1-Remove Writing End of Pen

Okay first, remove the "writing" end of the pen. Once that is complete we can move on to step 2!

Step 3: Cut the Ink Holder/pen Tubing.

Okay, grab your knife/sharp object, what I did was start sawing, and once I got further into the pen tubing I pushed down and it went right through it. I came out with what you can see in picture 2, (Cut Tubing..)

Step 4: Cut Ink

In some cases this could get messy, so proceed to finish over a paper towel or rag. First, measure the tubing to the ink so you know where exactly to cut (First Picture). And the of course cut the ink. I left my fingers where I measured so I could cut it right outside of them and make the best fit.

Step 5: Put Ink in Tube and Finish the Project!

Now all you have to do is slide the ink back in snugly as a bugly and your finished. Here is some pictures of me doing so, and what I came out with.

IamTheCreator (author)2008-06-06

i Have A Friend That Used To Do This 5 Years Ago? Advise; Add Hotglue To The Back Of The Open Ink Tube, It'll Leak EVERYWHERE

adamthiede (author)2008-01-20

Whats on the back of the paper that you wrote on? And why do you keep posting gibberish on my orangeboard?

Doesn't explode 2 days after?

RedBinary (author)T3h_Muffinator2007-12-12

Crap! I did this and it exploded 1.5 days after ruining both my bed sheets and my remaining one good eye!!!! Use caution! This is very dangerous mod!

ikevis (author)2007-12-09

I do this with pens sometimes, but i just fold the ink tube in half and this way it doesn't get messy. Good instructions by the way.

munchman (author)2007-11-27

What pen are you using. Looks cool.

icedog515 (author)2007-10-21

lol is it the smartest idea to cut open a pen rite over a bed?(staining and stuff..) im sorry...i never found out why im so messed up -_-

ainseliz27 (author)2007-10-10

Good job. I might try this when I bored with physical science.

IamTheCreator (author)2007-10-09

I feel that mines faster, requires less tools, and is less messy. Plus I searched mini pen and nothing came up or else I wouldn't have made this.

!Andrew_Modder! (author)2007-10-09

cool, but they allready sell cool mini pens, an there was a instructable allready on this :-\

Santas little helper (author)2007-10-09

generic transparent pens that he transforms into blow dart guns make one on that but this is good too

Babyshoes (author)2007-10-09

Instead of cutting up a full ink tube, why not wait until it is partly used? That way you would reduce the mess when cutting it.
