Introduction: Minecraft Automatic Sugarcane Farm.

Picture of Minecraft Automatic Sugarcane Farm.

Hello everybody, this is my very first instructable and I'm going to show you how to make an automatic sugarcane farm. With this you just have to press the lever and wait for the sugar to come to you! Also I have to say that I'm spanish so excuse me if I make any mistake!

So, let's start!

Step 1: Blocks Needed.

Picture of Blocks Needed.

For building the farm we are going to need the following blocks and materials:

- Grass, stone or any other else you like.

- A water bucket.

- Some sand blocks.

- An ice block.

- Pistons.

- Redstone.

- Redstone repeaters.

- A lever or a button if you want your farm to work fully-automatic.

- And of course we need the sugarcane!

- Torches ( optional, they are only for decoration and illumination).

Step 2: Step 1.

Picture of Step 1.

First of all we have to dig on the grass as shown in the picture. We need to dig out 8 blocks of grass.

Step 3: Step 2.

Picture of Step 2.

Now put sand where you have digged. We put sand in order to plant the sugarcane

Step 4: Step 3.

Picture of Step 3.

Now we have to put the water only in the first empty block at the top. With this, the water flows down and collects the sugarcane.

Also we have to put the ice block at the end of the flowing water to stop the sugarcane.

Step 5: Step 4.

Picture of Step 4.

Now we are going to put one row of grass blocks next to the sand blocks. Both sides.

Step 6: Step 5. Now the Pistons.

Picture of Step 5. Now the Pistons.

Remember the blocks you put in the last step? Yes? So now we are going to put pistons facing the water at the top of them.

Step 7: Step 6.

Picture of Step 6.

Now we are going to add a row of two blocks height at both sides.

Also we add another row of pistons at the top of the others we added before. The space left will be used to put the redstone repeaters.

Step 8: Step 7.

Picture of Step 7.

Now we are going to put redstone repeaters at the back of all the pistons at both sides.

After this, we need to put another row of grass blocks of two blocks height at booth sides too. This is going to be used to make the redstone circuit.

Step 9: Step 8: Redstone.

Picture of Step 8: Redstone.

Alright, now we have to put redstone on the blocks we put in the last step. At both sides.

Now, we almost have the redstone circuit.

Step 10: Step 9: More Redstone.

Picture of Step 9: More Redstone.

Now we have to continue our circuit in order to put a lever or a button to make it work. For this we are going to put a grass block and then redstone on it. He have to do it both sides.

Step 11: Step 10

Picture of Step 10

So we are now going to put the two redstone circuits together. See the images for more information please because as you know: It's better a picture than a thousand words!

Step 12: Step 11: Finished!

Picture of Step 11: Finished!

So the last thing we have to do is to put a lever or if you want a button for this to be fully automatic!

And this is how it works: when you press the lever the pistons move and break the sugarcanes, they fall down into the water and as it flows to you, the sucarcane does too! Then you just have to walk closer to get them!

I'm also going to post a video with the farm working.

I hope this instructable helped. I tried the best and as I said this was my very first instructable so I'm open to any comments!

Thanks for reading!!

You only need the bottom most piston set if you have craftbukkit, (magnet chests), and you can have it fully automatic with observer blocks

Nice clear step by step instructions. First project using red stone automation. Thank you! :-)
