Introduction: Minecraft Creeper Afghan

Knit this Creeper blanket for yourself or any Minecraft fan. The knitted 8" garter squares form this pixelated afghan.

Step 1: Gather Supplies

Yarn

Any worsted weight yarn will work. I chose a washable acrylic because I have kids and dogs and easy washability is important to me and it was much more affordable than other fiber options.

Pick 3 different shades of green plus black.

Yarn I used:Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Solids,Heathers & twists

Light Green-Seaspray Mist(304),6 skeins(1020 yards)

Medium Green-Fern(171),6 skeins(1020 yards)

Dark Green-Kelly Green(172),6 skeins(1020 Yards)

Black(153),4 skeins(680 yards)

Needles/Notions

Knitting Needles-Size US 8(5mm)

Gauge is not crucial to this project. Use the needle size that gives you the fabric you like the best!

Crochet hook or darning needle to sew up all these beautiful squares.

Step 2: Knit Your Squares

Knit 88, 8" squares.

Cast on 32 stitches. Knit every row for 58 rows. Bind off.

Repeat until you have 20 squares of each color.

The 8 squares at the bottom of the afghan are knit with 29 rows of green and 29 rows of black. Please reference row 11 of the chart to knit these 8 squares.

Step 3: Putting It All Together

Follow the pdf chart to stitch together all 88 squares.

There are quite a few different ways to join the completed squares together. I joined my squares using slip stitch crochet method. Here is a tutorial explaining this method.

I worked across the chart to form a row and combined each row of 8 squares together to work down the chart until I had the afghan assembled.

As you can see from my project picture my afghan is still a work in progress. My Minecraft loving kid just couldn't wait any longer for me to knit any more squares and claimed it for himself!
