Mini Storage Bottle (fits in the Pocket)

Here is a super way to re-use clear plastic bottle tops and lids.  I have a lot of small craft supplies that I needed clear containers for.  I made this Gatorade bottle into a plastic container for my small buttons. The nifty thing about it is you can custom fit it to the item being stored and it has an easy pour spout!  I would imagine any clear bottle would work as well.  I added some embellishments to cover up the markings on the bottle to make it look nicer for this Instructable.  I also made a smaller version for pills or any tiny items. Both sizes are great to store small items in.  Both sizes will fit into a mans shirt pocket.

Step 1: Supplies and Tools

Supplies and tools:

• 1 Clear plastic Gatorade bottle or a similar bottle
• 1 Piece of felt
• 1 Small piece of cardboard
• Marker
• All purpose glue 
• Scissors 
• Rick rack
• Buttons
• Small craft items to put in the container when it is finished!

Step 2: Marking the Bottle

Here are pictures showing how to mark the sizes.  
A custom fit for the article being stored is a plus!  
I used a can to mark mine as shown in the picture, it worked very nicely.

Step 3: Cutting the Bottle

Instructions on how to cut the bottle:

• Now that you have marked the size you want using a knife carefully cut around the mark following it as close as you can.
• Trim the edges with the scissors to smooth out any uneven edges.

Step 4: Marking and Cutting the Cardboard and Felt

Marking and cutting  the cardboard and felt pieces:

• Using the Cut bottle top as a pattern, place it onto the cardboard and draw around the base with a marker.
• Cut out 1 cardboard circle.
• Place the cardboard over the folded felt piece and draw around the cardboard onto the felt.
• Cut out the 2 circles from the marked felt piece.  

Step 5: Gluing the Felt and Cardboard to the Bottle Top

Gluing the felt and cardboard:

• Glue one of the felt pieces to the cardboard.
• Turn it over and glue the remaining felt piece to the cardboard.  
• Press firmly to help it stick together forming a tight seal.
• Allow it to dry.  

Step 6: Gluing the Embellishments

Glue the embellishments if you wish to add them:

• Glue a button to the lid.
• Glue ribbon or rick rack to the base to cover any ugly edges.
• Fill with small craft items!

Step 7: The Pill Bottle

For the pill bottle I cut the lid as close as I could leaving enough room to glue a piece of cardboard to.  I glued the cardboard to the bottom and I also glued a button on the bottom to make it stronger.  I added a button on the top to embellish it.  Here are the pictures of the pill bottle.

Step 8: Sunshiine's Final Thoughts

I just love my new custom craft container!  It is very useful!  I need to ask my friends to save me their plastic bottles!  I rarely purchase them.  I need quite a few for my craft collection.  These were fast and easy to make.  The pill bottle is awesome as well!
