So you want a little light but you don't want to have to worry about dropping it? You've come to the right place! You can make this out of most things you find around the house, with the exception of the switch or push button. Don't worry, it may sound hard but it's very easy and all you need to know is how to hook an LED to a button-cell battery. There is no need to solder anything unless you want to.

Step 1: What You Need

You will need:

Two soda bottle caps
Some wires
Hot glue gun
Pen cap
One LED (any color, I used white)Superbright would be best but I didn't have one
Button-cell batteries (enough to power the LED)
One switch or push button thingy
X-acto knife

Step 2: The Pen Cap

You need to take the pen cap and cut off the little part sticking off of it. Then you need to take your X-acto knife and get rid of the top part of the cap (shown in the pictures)

Step 3: Bottle Cap #1

Put a hole in the cap big enough fot the two wires (preferably insulated) to fit through.

Step 4: Putting the Innards Together

Tape the wires to the LED as shown. Cut slits down the pen cap so that the LED will fit snugly. Then slide the wires all the way into the pen cap. Then put them through the hole in the soda bottle cap and hot glue the pen cap to the bottle cap. Tape one wire to one of the wires on the push button or switch, it doesn't really matter which one. Then tape the other wire from the LED to the correct side of the batteries. Then connect the remaining wire to the other side of the batteries. Press the button or turn on the switch to make sure it works.

Step 5: Cap #2

Cut a square hole on the side of the other soda bottle cap. This is where the button will go. Put the button in and then cram the batteries in next to it. Then since it probably won't take up the whole thing you will need to shove a bit of cardboard in there too.

Step 6: Packing It Up

Now you need to glue the bottle caps together, making sure that you put everything into the bottle caps.

Step 7: End

Now you're finished! I put some blue duct tape around the base so that it looked better. This reminds me of a birthday candle kinda.... Anyway to work it just press the button (or flip the switch)!
