Minty Stove (Might not be the best) by lightpacker
This is just a common sense thing for any flammable liquid so try not to criticize
(My first instructable all comment are welcome or any tips will be needing some)

Cool! Oh,noticed a mistake. You said,I use 91 percent denatured alcohol. The photo of the alcohol bottle clearly says"Isopropyl rubbing alcohol".Just thought you might want to correct that.

how canyou read that and where?
bylerfamily says: May 4, 2009. 4:41 AM
On the materials list he says,I use 91 percent denatured alcohol. In the picture of the alcohol bottle the bottle say isopropyl alcohol

This is very similar to some of the alcohol stoves we use for backpacking. A couple of suggestions: If you line your tin with some fibreglass insulation -- just enough to fill it without packing it in -- and then cover that with some metal window screen cut slightly larger than the bottom tin you can insert the screen under the rolled edge of the tin. What this does is give you a nonflamable material to pour your fuel into. This reduces the danger of the fuel splashing out or spilling. The screen holds the insulation in place and also helps to spread out your flame and gives you a more controlled burn. I would also recommend using denatured alcohol -- you'll find it in the paint section of the hardware store. Rubbing alcohol has water in it that will make it burn with black smoke. Denatured alcohol is purer and burns cleaner. You can also use the product HEET, but get the kind in the yellow bottle.

I was thinking something like lineing it sortof like you sai, but line it with something that wont burn(what you probably doesn't burn cause your suggesting it) that and yeah put something to keep the fuel from flying out then some crazy people might be able to hold an altoids tin fire tin

Stev0lution says: Mar 18, 2007. 1:24 AM
What do YOU use this for?
lightpacker (author) says: Mar 20, 2007. 9:04 PM
nothing some minor cooking once in a while but i just wanted to show proof of concept. And a revision of my earlier advice i dont recommend cooking on the lid just put some foil on it or metal foil its really hard to clean the lid

That's what you say to your girlfriend when you get older -- Babe, I just want to try this for 'proof of concept'.

best instructable yet. post some more sometime. YOU OWN!
lightpacker (author) says: May 29, 2007. 7:53 PM
never because nothing is compressed it might make a big fire if you spill the fuel but never explode
Yerboogieman says: May 27, 2007. 11:17 PM
will it ever blow up?
chickenliver123 says: May 19, 2007. 7:23 PM
you can cook clams on the pan. make sure it dosnt touch the fuel...
chickenliver123 says: May 17, 2007. 5:42 PM
AWESOMe, but its going to take like 30 min. to boil water, maybe you should crush some charcoal for the fuel. Swizzle i right tooo, it might start a fire because it is wobbly.
swizzle says: Mar 21, 2007. 7:36 PM
Why not put some type of notches in the lid to stablize it. Otherwise it could be pretty wobbly and possibly tip, causing a fire. Swizzle

Good Idea Works even better

How to take off a lid.
lightpacker (author) says: Mar 20, 2007. 9:02 PM
break off hinge where lid is held on jus keep on bending till it breaks off or you can just cut them off with the rotary tool Sorry for the delay of comments
